ReWorld Incinerator is currently in Oregon DEQ’s Voluntary Cleanup Program. High concentrations of dioxins and heavy metals were found in the soil and it is likely contamination extends beyond property lines into neighboring areas. There will be opportunities for public involvement in the cleanup at a later stage, but soil testing will likely begin before that point.

Beyond Toxics and Clean Air Now are hosting a community information session for Brooks residents, where we will discuss:

• The history of the incinerator and why it’s being cleaned up
• How the cleanup may impact local residents
• How community members can get involved so they can protect their families, businesses, and each other
