Eugene rejects proposal for a fuel transfer facility in Trainsong

The City of Eugene has rejected a proposal for a fuel transfer facility in west Eugene.

The "Eugene Clean Fuels Facility" would have loaded biofuels from rail cars onto an estimated 40 trucks per day. It would have been located on railroad property off of Bethel Drive in the Trainsong neighborhood of northwest Eugene.

High-tech camera exposes toxic fumes spewing from common kitchen device

A documentary by nonprofit advocacy group Beyond Toxics examined the startling effects of gas stove usage on local pollution. Special cameras and sensors showed homeowners how ineffective burning and ventilation can allow pollutants to creep throughout their kitchens and the rest of their homes.

Marion County’s move from incineration to landfill illustrates the problems with both methods of trash disposal

Since the mid-1980s, Marion county has been sending its trash to an incinerator, now known as Reworld Marion Inc. It’s the only one in the state, and the county has partnered with it from from the beginning. The company recently filed objections with Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality around environmental regulations the state passed aimed at improving human health by reducing toxic emissions from the facility.
