Non Toxic Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon communities are stepping up as leaders in the non toxic Oregon movement. Beyond Toxics hosts workshops for city and school grounds managers and their staff to introduce the practice of organic turf management. Technical assistance is provided to pursue “proof of concept” demonstration projects. In 2018, after hosting NTO workshops, the City of Talent adopted a policy to adopt integrated pest management. This model policy prioritizes reducing the use of pesticides to protect the health, safety and well- being of Talent’s residents, pollinators and environment.

The support of local parents is critical to successful projects involving schools and parks. Southern Oregon parents were active in support of pesticide free schools. School administrators in the Phoenix-Talent School District responded by initiating community conversations about pesticide use as well as reviewing and strengthening their integrated pest management plan.

Non Toxic Southern Oregon is an initiative shared with Pollinator Project Rogue Valley. Our goal is for everyone in Southern Oregon to be able to enjoy safe, toxic-free public spaces: at schools, in parks, on city properties, and even along county roads.
